Thoughts About Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog - Updated

Thoughts About the Last of Us Part 2

There will be no spoilers in this post. Breathe a sigh of relief.

As many Naughty Dog and the Last of Us fans may know from Neil Druckmann's tweets have told us, not only one but two individuals are responsible for leaking the ending and gameplay of the sequel to the Last of Us part one. Although Neil warned his fans not to look into the spoilers as they might not like what is found, some fans just couldn't wait for the story to finally be released. In recent tweets from Druckmann, he states how much this hurts him and the fans who have been excited to play the game since it's release announcement at E3 2018.

Despite the rumors that the ending of the game will leave players dissatisfied, Neil and the Naughty Dog team have been warning players to not jump to conclusions. That the ending will be "worth it" in the end. But these leaks have left many fans upset; verbally attacking both the game development team and Druckmann. Some comments even go as far as delivering death threats to Druckmann and his team.

A Twitter user receives leaks through messages, thinks the entire story is ruined.

An angry Twitter user trying to call out Druckmann on the "truth"?

Even though there are some angry commenters out there. Some still have high hope that Druckmann will still carry on without worry over these recent threats from angry fans. Not too long ago, Neil retweeted an article by Games Industry. News that the content leaked from Naughty Dog was not caused by Sony or Naughty Dog employees.

Spoilers for the game will not be brought up in detail. Each tweet about the subject, news, or updates posted by Druckmann discloses not to read the comments because fans are further spreading the information and footage that has been leaked. That aside, there are a few golden gems I have been able to pull from this drama. Here are some good-hearted tweets from fans of the Last of Us and the Naughty Dog team.

If you are trying to avoid spoilers but your curiosity is getting the better of you. I would advise that you do not look into the leaked footage, tweets, or images. They are all being hidden by the Naughty Dog team and every video uploaded is getting taken down. It is not worth earning a bad footprint on social media. As this user has replied, if you love the team and their games, do not ruin the chance to play it for yourself. Find out on your own if the game is worth $60 or wait for the game to be released and the footage is uploaded properly

Both supportive and hateful comments sound the same to me. The hateful bash while the good tries to save the day. From the first game to its sequel, fans have supported Naughty Dog for years. All of this negative attention may lead the team to either re-write the story or suffer the negative reviews. From my side of opinion, I do not believe the team will re-write the story. It has taken a lot of time, work, and effort to finish what has already been made. If it was erased and refurbished, what would the point be? You would already know there's a good ending? Is that what would make you happy, a good ending in a zombie apocalypse-themed game? Will the high-defined graphics, music, and characters not put you at ease? All of these questions may have been answered, but the true question is, "Is this your story to narrate?" Based on the fact the temperamental fans believe this story is theirs baffles me.

If you are a writer, artist, or game renderer/developer. Why not create your own ending? Instead of complaining about the work of another creator. I do not believe Neil is to blame. The amount of time it took to write this ending or maybe the entire story was all ready to go. Since June 14, 2013, Neil has had 7 years to think about this story. As brought up in one of his tweets, there are "rumors" that will be put to bed. Should we all judge and assume there will be more bad news in the future? Probably. Due to the in-game leaks and rumors spread of annoyed fans, there is no one in the right. We (the fans) are all in the wrong.

     1. Spreading or leaking story content is not right.
     2. Harassing the team and writer because you are unhappy is not right
     3. Spreading rumors that you do not know are true is not right
     4. Spreading spoilers because you are angry at Neil and the team is not right
     5. Watching leaked footage is not right even when you've been warned not to. (Why would you?)

If your eyes have been sparred, please. Read this step guide to not spoil the game for yourself.

     1. Both on Naughty Dog's page and Neil Druckmann's, DO NOT read any of the comments. There is a wildfire of spoilers down there.
     2. DO NOT open any unrecognized chats on Twitter (where most of this information is).
     3. Make sure if you see anyone trying to spoil the game, report their post IMMEDIATELY to either Naughty Dog, Neil, or the Twitter team.

It will get better from here. Stay safe and sound in your homes.
